Much like Roy Orbison, The Beatles were extremely vulnerable, much like The Everly Brothers, The Beatles harmonised in a fairly clean cut fashion, and much like Buddy Holly, The Beatles embraced their unique personalities and sense of humour. Yet the three artists I just mentioned were minorities in the world of rock and roll, with Elvis, Little Richard and the like representing macho free spiritedness. The Beatles however grew up in fairly matriarchal homes, listened to girl groups almost as much as rock and roll, and had a strong affinity for the traditional pop of pre-rock and roll times (even Lennon who would go on to criticise Paul for his 'granny music' was a fan of this stuff in the early days). This combination of musical and societal influences gave The Beatles a style that was extremely polished and pretty, and their unique personalities on and off record paired with the tendency for rock and roll lyrics to focus on young love made them outrageously popular with girls and a big influence on the idea of the manufactured boy band. However people who see The Beatles as just a pioneer of the boy bands aren't taking into account how loud they were compared to proceeding rock and rollers, and some of the older generation really hated them. People were outraged when they were given the MBE and the father of a journalist who went on tour with them said to his son that these young men represent the decay of society. They definitely were a part of the establishment compared to the stones but the Beatles had more balls than modst admit.
This brings us back to the Hambutg days where the Beatles where leather clad, John Lennon played with a toilet seat around his neck or naked, the band got in bar fights after gigs, and they got deported back to Enlabd for lighting a Condom on fire at the Star Club.
If you could have seen the Beatles during this era or their more famous era, which would you choose. And we're the Beatles the most rebellious act ever in their early days?

I must admit, I'd probably choose seeing The Beatles during their Hamburg period than during the Fab years. First of all, their live performance qualities deteriorated sharply, as evident in the scream-less concert in Japan in 1966. Second, you wouldn't have to put up with thousands upon thousands of animalistic women screaming as if their life depended on it and urinating everywhere. Third, due to the closed, convivial atmosphere of the clubs such as the ones in Hamburg, you could very well go up to the Beatles and start chatting with them - or even jam with them! Fourth and perhaps most importantly, it's these early years where they simply rock and rolled the hardest

To be fair though it was much the same for virtually every other popular group at the time. Bob Geldof for instance clearly remembers the smell of urine when he went to a Stones concert in Ireland in around 1966

Do you research. The money earned from Live Aid didn't go to the starving people of Ethiopia but instead the murdering genocidal dictator of Ethiopia who invested the money in military equipment. Geldof was warned of this but still negotiated with the man anyways.

Maybe they could do an album cover of The Final Cut but from a conservative perspectives. "Get Your Filthy Hands off My Nation"
