So we've just reached the 44th anniversary of an album that would most definitely make my top five desert island albums list. The one and only The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. While I have over listened to it and therefore rarely put it on, whenever I do I am completely blown away. It's musical storytelling is simply captivating, taking you not from point a to point b but from a to point z and filling in every single microscopic detail along the way. It's a journey that lets the listener become completely lost in it. The warm analogue sound is beautiful as is Rick's voice and Gilmour's guitar playing yet all of it has this rough edge as well. It's such a fleshed out, three dimensional sound that pushes musical buttons without alienating anyone. It's an absolute landmark in the history of production, engineering, and visceral poignancy. However on top of all of this, the album works on an intellectual level too. Once you learn about what it means, the depth and the spirituality of the sound is backed up with how deeply profound the message is. It's layered but it's instantaneous, it's accessible yet it's interesting. It's one of the greatest albums ever made. I wonder what Floyd will do for it's 45th Anniversary next year.

I think I've talked about this record too often in the past already. Plus you've summed it up pretty well IMO

I wouldn't bet on it - after all we've had the Immersion box set already and beyond maybe a complete early 1972 performance or re-issuing the 5.1 blu-ray as a standalone item, I honestly fail to see how much they could do with it.

You're probably right, but hey a few interviews couldn't hurt When DG did an interview for the RTL release in 2015, he seemed very reluctant to talk about the past. Eclipsed had a WYWH 40th anniversary article but he just said something along the lines of "I've been asked everything over and over again", and of course it's true. We've got the Classic Albums DVD (which is wonderful by the way) and the documentary in the box set, I think there isn't much more to say about the album...

And yes the classic albums dvd/blu-ray is fantastic. Sheds a lot of interesting light on the album.
