It's official now. Here are the inductees for the RRHOF next year:
Electric Light Orchestra Joan Baez Journey Pearl Jam Tupac Shakur Yes
My thoughts? About damn time for ELO and Yes, who should have been inducted years ago. Joan Baez I have reservations about, but seeing as though she is a significant figure in folk rock, I believe they made the right choice. Pearl Jam should have probably waited a few more years; certainly until more deserving older acts got in. The fact that they got in when it was their first year of eligibility is a bit much, and I don't think they quite deserve such an accolade. Journey I feel similarly about - should have waited until more deserving older acts got in. As a matter of fact I'm genuinely surprised that they won the fan vote by a large margin... I dunno. To me at least, they always came off as a generic stadium rock act. As for Tupac Shakur.... this is not the Hip Hop Hall Of Fame. Bitterly disappointed that The Zombies didn't get in - they're pretty high up on my list of older acts that are long overdue for induction, especially since they're really the last of the major British Invasion acts that have yet to get in.
But at the end, what does it matter? In the immortal words of John Lydon, the RRHOF is a piss stain. Urine in wine, and all round bollocks

They should definatley get in. 2. Who the hell is Joan Baez? 3. Journey, I actually enjoy them but I don't think they're culturally significant enough to be inducted, are they? 4. Pearl Jam would be actually a more reasonable induction than Journey I IMO. 5. They're thinking of inducting Tupac? Isn't that guy a holographic rapper? WTF? 6. I think Yes should get in, I'm actually shocked that they didn't. Very famous progressive band. All in all I think that Yes should get in, if they don't, then ELO should. Journey and Pearl Jam, if they get in, I'd be okay with I guess, although dissappointed. If Tupac gets in I'm flipping the table.

She dated Bob Dylan for quite some time and performed with him live prior to him becoming ultra famous. She has a fairly well-known version of Dylan's song "Blowin' in the Wind". That said she's more famous for her legacy than her songs.

I never heard a female cover of Blowin' in the Wind, so I doubt I know her. And her legacy is that she dated Dylan?

No, her legacy is that she is a folk rock icon and activist who popularised such songs as "Diamonds And Rust", "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down", "Forever Young" and "We Shall Overcome", among many others

Sad that Chris Squire didn't live to see Yes inducted.
