I thought I should make a thread about my favourite musically related film or at least the film that best depicts my love for music. High Fidelity. Just to state first off i've never read the book which i've heard is excellent and I probably should give it a chance to compare and contrast, however the film I fell in love with on first viewing and have fallen in love with even more every time i've seen it. First saw it around 15-16 and related to the loneliness, pessimism, and frustration and over-analytical nature of the lead character Rob Gordon (as played outstandingly by John Cusack) whilst also recognising Rob as a hugely flawed character. Regardless of plenty of the awful things Rob does and the arc his character takes though, there is still a lot of wise things said out of his mouth. He's not as good a guy as Dick but he lacks his shyness and is therefore more eloquent and he's just an all around much more easier person to tolerate than Barry (Jack Black at the funniest he's ever been). Yet of course the thing that's best to examine with High Fidelity for this forum is the musical elements which dive deep into music nerd territory (though there are some mainstream references) and it's consistently really amusing. This a scene that always gave me the giggles, though definitely watch the whole film when you get the chance:

What's a High Fidelity? How come I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't watch TV around here?

The only films I've seen with Cusack are 2012 and Being John Malkovitch. 2012 was just straight up bad, and Being John Malkovitch, while it was awesome, was undoutbley one of the more obscure movies. As for Jack Black, I've seen many of his movies only one of which I actually enjoyed. Maybe the Kung Fu Panda series as well, but those movies are still pretty dumb IMO.

It's not normal enough to bore me but it's not odd enough to entice me.

I genuinely like 2012, although it's certainly far from perfect. Always an entertaining watch. I'm also surprised you don't like it considering the Russians are pretty prominent

Millionaire retards who know nothing but themselves. The movie for me was a bore, all that was entertaining was the amazing visual effects of blowing up San Francisco, which was pretty entertaining. But story wise it was filled with plot holes, deus ex machinas, and the entire story was less developed than Transformers 3.
