I love Let There Be Light, I love Remember A Day, I even have a soft spot for Corporal Clegg. Yet is A Saucerful of Secrets what it's cracked up to be? Jugband Blues is of course the highlight though the remaster on The Early Years sounds better. But everything else on the album is either much better live or its "See Saw". The more I talk about this the more I realise this album isn't that weak. But with an abundance of better versions of these songs, it's paled in hindsight a bit. That's purely what I think. Feel free to offer your perspective.

Dude, I making a point about how More wasn't the first weak Floyd album like it is in the popular opinion. It was late though so probably didn't emphasise that.

Well then In that case, I disagree entirely with the premise of the thread. Brilliant album, with only one (albeit long) disposable track. If anything it's underrated since it doesn't have any of the praise or recognition that Piper or the albums from Dark Side onwards has. You said so yourself: "The more I talk about it, the more I realise this album isn't that weak"

One of them you cited as a remaster - which can easily be done for the whole album.... there's only one track which you cited that seems to actually be better live, and that's the title track which is the one I cited as the only disposable track

What do you mean? I absolutley loved Sauceful of Secrets and I think all the tracks on the album were great IMO, except for the title track which was an absolute mess, but even then I still like the last part (the organ thing). More was definatley a letdown, only 2 or 3 salvagable okay pieces, but it's not the worst that Floyd has produced.

Listen to "Set The Controls For The Heart of The Sun" live. It's not the album's fault but on my iTunes there is literally three tracks on Saucerful. A remaster for the whole album should be in due instead of spacing tracks across different albums. Especially given it helps ruin the legacy of this classic.

I've heard the live versions of "Set The Controls" - I'd still take the studio version any day. As for the spacing tracks, that's been a problem that Pink Floyd's had for a while, not just with Saucerful

This is perhaps the dumbest thread i've ever created. I just looked at my iTunes and was shocked by how few tracks from Saucerful I had. Yet if you just listen to the album it's pretty enjoyable.
