I've decided that this board needs more wacky polls! (And other games, such as the domino one.) After all, if people want to participate, they have to join... ;-)
This one's interesting too. The former tracks is one of early Floyd's more controversial "songs", the first part consisting entirely of crazy sound effects and the structure being mapped out beforehand (I think it's supposed to represent the typical course of a war, not unlike Yes' later "The Gates of Delirium"). Live, it took on a slightly different form, especially at the end.
The other one is a song from David's solo album OAI, and despite its epic intentions I've never warmed to it. David explained in the documentary that there are two main ideas in the song, one of which sounds very boring and empty to me, whereas the other motif has lots of potential, but doesn't really manage to save the song imo.
So, two very different things only connected by similar titles. Your thoughts?

Admittedly I still haven't checked out any of Gilmour's solo albums in full (which I need to rectify someday). But this is definitely a fresh, interesting idea for a poll and I look forward to casting my vote someday when I do give those solo albums a spin

I gotta say, I wasn't entirely convinced by Nick's rendition of ASOS. It's the song he named his band after, so I guess they have to play it, but it just didn't quite have the impact. The end part was good, but it only works as a release if the previous parts are played with the appropriate force and craziness.
