Who knows, Julian could just be anglicised. Hell, your true name isn't even Stevie, that's just your anglicised name! Not saying "Yulian" is a bad name, it just doesn't sound as very German as I would hope lol...Sounds more Ukrainian. "Anglicised", if you can even call it that. I just took on the name Stevie without any real connection to my real name. Then why Stevie? Lol

Well I did say anglicise, so try and make it as close to an English name as possible Again, it's really impossible to anglicise a name that's not related to English at all. It's like trying to anglicize "Vladimir", it's hard when the name is so far away from English.

"In Old East Slavic tradition, preserved in Ukrainian, the name is spelled Volodimir, Volodimer (Володимѣръ), or more commonly as Volodymyr (Володимир)."

Anglicization only works for languages similar to English. For example Johaan, can be anglizied to John, right? Because they're both Germanic names, but one is more commonly used in English.

1. The name "Jules"? Lol 2. The fact that he's a Floyd fan? 3. The fact that he speaks near-perfect English? Lol 1. Yeah, his name's Julian, but everyone calls him Jules Nobody actually calls me that except myself - I've been called everything from 'Julio' to 'Angelo' It's just the name I came up with when I joined the Steve Hoffman Music Forums, which I thought was a nice play on words... - Gary Jules is the one who covered "Mad World"
- "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" is one of the most well-known (but not one of the best) songs by Tears for Fears
- The name has a nice ring to it
In fact, long after I had chosen that name, I came across an old review of the Gary Jules album in an "eclipsed" magazine and it ended with the words "Jules rules"!

1. Yeah, his name's Julian, but everyone calls him Jules 2. Europeans love the Floyd 3. Germans speak damn good English 1. It's weird, cause Germans would pronounce his name "Yulian", which sounds awfully...Non-German. 2. I have yet to meet a fellow "European" Floyd fan. Yea sure I guess Jules, but still... 3. I thought he would at least make some mistakes or something. To be fair english and german have very similar grammars...But still. re: #2 - Pulse & SpiritAnd congratulations for uncovering the secret: I am actually German-American. Sure, my day-to-day language is German but I learned English very early on and being on these English-speaking messageboards doesn't hurt either. This also means that everybody here pronounces my name wrong. Most "Julian"'s in Germany are indeed pronounced with the "y" sound, just like "Julius" and the female equivalents ("Julia" etc.). However in my case it's the English pronounciation, which tends to throw people off (not so much these days, maybe the increase of English names like "Justin" helped that).
